How to connect your Interactive Brokers account to Stax

Verified

IBKR hands out trade data through a saved report rather than a password, so the setup is a one-time job in the Client Portal: build the report once, give Stax its two identifiers, and every fill after that arrives on its own — signed on the server, which is what earns the verified badge.

In the IBKR Client Portal
  1. Go to Performance & Statements → Flex Queries.

  2. Create a new Trade Confirmation query and name it Quer_stax. Under Sections pick Trade Confirmation, then in the pop-up click Symbol Summary, Order and Executions, with Select All checked. Save.

  3. Set the delivery and general configuration exactly like this, then click Continue → Create → OK:

Format: XML · Date Format: yyyyMMdd · Time Format: HHmmss TimeZone · Date/Time Separator: ; (semi-colon)

  4. Back on the Flex Queries page, copy the Query ID shown next to Quer_stax.

  5. Open Flex Web Service Configuration on the same page and generate your token. Copy it — IBKR shows it once.

In Stax
  1. In the left sidebar, open Connections.

  2. Click Add Connection.

  3. In Select Connection, search for Interactive Brokers and click it. Three cards open: Auto-Sync, Import CSV File and Add Manually.

  4. Choose the Auto-Sync card.

  5. Paste the token into Flex Token and the query number into Trade Confirmation Query ID, then click Connect.

How to import Interactive Brokers trades into Stax from a file

For the history that sits behind you — the years before you connected, or a single account you would rather keep out of the live connection. Same report, run by hand and saved to disk.

In the IBKR Client Portal
  1. Go to Performance & Statements → Flex Queries and find your Quer_stax query (build it first if you haven't — the steps are the same as above).

  2. Click the blue arrow next to the query.

  3. Pick the trade date range you want — Last 365 Calendar Days, for instance — set the file format to XML and click Run. The file downloads to your computer.

In Stax
  1. In the left sidebar, open Connections.

  2. Click Add Connection, then pick Interactive Brokers.

  3. Of the three cards, choose Import XML File.

  4. Click Choose File and select your .xml. Stax reads the IBKR report layout directly, so there is nothing to map.

  5. Check the matched trades in the preview, then confirm the import.
